About Me

I lived in Papua New Guinea as a child and have always been curious about culture and languages. Studying French and Spanish at the University of Newcastle enabled me to spend a year abroad doing ERASMUS in Chambéry in France and Granada in Spain. Upon graduating I joined the British Council's Teaching Assistant program and moved to Guadeloupe in the Caribbean for a year to teach English in Primary Schools. Books, reading and travel have been a huge part of my life, for as long as I can remember. Rights combines all these things that I love.

I started my career in books in 2010, working at Stanford's Map and Travel Book Shop and in the Rights Department at Bloomsbury Publishing. I then spent thirteen very happy years at Darley Anderson, working with some of the UK's bestselling commercial fiction authors, building writing careers in up to fifty languages.

Whether it's commercial fiction, literary fiction or narrative non-fiction, I love the escapism I find when reading a great book. I believe this escapism is a feeling shared throughout the world by writers and readers, which is why I founded Darby Literary Rights Agency. With selling translation rights being our core focus, I build long-term careers in other languages and markets for our authors, seeing each deal as a stepping stone to the next. By taking immense care in matching each book and each author to the right publisher, I ensure the best and fairest deal for everyone.

I was shortlisted for the British Book Awards Rights Professional of the Year 2022.
